Secondment Opportunity: Lawyer with NV1 Clearance

We are seeking to recruit experienced lawyers to second to a prominent Commonwealth Government Department.

Due to the nature of the work at this Department and the level of classified information the successful applicant will have access to, a current NV1 (or higher) clearance is required.

The successful candidate will provide legal advice on a range of issues, which could include commercial arrangements, intellectual property, employment and industrial relations law, administrative law, work health and safety and litigation management.

The initial contract on offer is 3-6 months, with the possibility of extension. Lawyers in ongoing positions within the APS may be able to access leave without pay to take up short term employment opportunities such as this, noting the benefits offered in terms of career development and networking. This will depend on the policy in place in any given agency.

Our ideal candidate would have 2-6 years’ experience in one or more of the legal areas identified above, with excellent drafting skills and an ability to apply legal concepts to the broader policy and strategic framework in which the Department operates. Full time arrangements are preferred, but we are open to part time arrangements for the right candidate.
